El palau de can Sergent
El Palau de Can Sergent is a typical ibizencan style country house situated in a very quiet area on the top of a small hill with extensive views, surrounded by more than 20.000 m2 of grounds just 350 metres from the village of San José. From this village there is easy access to all of the island's southern beaches.
El Palau de Can Sergent was originally built in the 18th century and for some time it was used for religious purposes before the actual church of San José was built. Since then, and over the years the house has had several refurbishments. Within the house, the most representative elements of the island's original style and architecture are preserved: modular structure, thick stonewalls, spacious halls and beautiful high wooden beamed ceilings, all influenced from the Mediterranean cultures such as Greek, Romans and Arabs.
In the construction of the house, all the natural materials have been used, wood, stone, earth and or clay and by using such materials the house preserves a pure and agreable atmosphere. The high ceilings and thick walls maintain an ideal temperature throughout the year.
Just to the side of the finca you will find "Sa Torre de Can Sergent" (the tower of Can Sergent), a 17th century shelter tower that has been recently declared a place of cultural value (B.I.C. Bien de Interés Cultural)
